- Riders and passengers under 18 must wear a bicycle helmet on any bike, including an e-bike.
- Minimum age
- Riders must be 16 or older to operate a Class 3. State law sets no minimum age for Class 1 or 2, but pilot laws let San Diego County and Marin County set local limits (see local_notes).
